



Here's a situation we see more than we'd like. A homeowner had a Level 2 EV charger installed - but whoever did it cut corners. Wrong wire gauge, no permit pulled, and the charger was overheating during use. That's not a minor issue. That's a fire hazard sitting in your garage.
We came in and did it right from the start. That means pulling the proper permit, sourcing wire that's actually rated for a continuous 40-amp load, and running everything clean back to the panel with a dedicated breaker labeled exactly for the EV charger. No guessing, no shortcuts.
The permit piece matters more than people realize. An unpermitted EV charger install can void your homeowner's insurance, create problems when you sell the house, and - most importantly - leave you with wiring that was never inspected by anyone. We pulled the permit, did the work, and passed inspection. That's the whole process done correctly.
EV charger installs are one of those jobs that look simple on the surface. Plug in a charger, run some wire, done. But a charger pulling a continuous 40 amps puts constant stress on every connection in that circuit. The wire has to be rated for it. The breaker has to be sized correctly. The connections have to be solid. When any one of those things is wrong, you end up with exactly what this homeowner had - heat buildup and a system that isn't safe to use.
