Sometimes an HVAC tech will come out, take a look, and move on without addressing everything that needs attention. That's exactly what happened here. The homeowner had an old, worn-out AC disconnect that needed to go - but the previous technician left it behind. We don't operate that way.

We were already on-site handling a panel and meter base replacement, so swapping out that old disconnect was a natural next step. The original unit was rough - cracked housing, built-up debris inside the enclosure, and connections that had clearly seen better days. Leaving something like that in place just isn't something we're willing to do.

The new disconnect went in clean. But we didn't stop there. We added surge protection to both the AC disconnect and the air handler. That matters more than most people realize. A single power surge - from a lightning strike or even a utility fluctuation - can fry a compressor or air handler in an instant. Those are expensive replacements. Surge protection is cheap insurance by comparison.

This is what we mean when we talk about doing the job right. It's not just about completing the task on the work order. It's about looking at the full picture and making sure the homeowner leaves with a system that's actually set up to last. That's the WattStar way.
